Conegliano Valdobbiadene: a difficult name for an inimitable wine, Prosecco
Superiore. (Besides, the best things in life are hardly ever the easiest). It is a wine you will be able to recognize “blind” once you have tasted it: a fine, fresh, elegant ambassador for a unique region of steep hills covered in a dense coverlet of vineyards. Since 1st April 2010, in order to safeguard this precious treasure created by man and nature, Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore has become part of Italy’s premium wine category: D.O.C.G.. A “G” that stands for Guaranteed quality in every single bottle. There are totally 44 DOCG producers only and 318 DOC category producers.
Since 1953 the Deltetto family has produced high quality wines in the areas of Langhe and Roero. Carlo Deltetto began the activity, always respecting nature and the great wine tradition of Piedmont.
The production is varied and complete, including the traditional red wines such as Barolo and Barbera. With the regards to the white wines, the Arneis and the Favorita are produced and have found their best habitat in the Roereo area.
Since 1932, Bonnaire Champagne whose vineyard is located in Cramant, a village that is classified Grand Cru from the Côte des Blancs, elaborates its Champagne. The vineyard has long been property of the Bouquemont family and it was right after the second World War that André Bonnaire, by marriage, inherited the vineyard, which spreads today on around 25 hectares. The Bonnaire have also been a family of winegrowers for several generations.
A great love for the earth and the hard work of four generations gave birth to Ca’ del Baio and helped it grow and realize the fruits of its success. The first person to actually vinify grapes was Luigi Grasso, followed by Ernesto and finally Giulio who, along with his wife Luciana, has prepared the future: the daughters Paola, Valentina and Federica. Azienda Agricola Ca’ del Baio is located in the town of Treiso, in the province of Cuneo, in the Langhe region.
Ca’ is short for “Casa”: home. Located at the top of the Rabają hill – Barbaresco’s historical cru. Since 1980, the winery of Romano Marengo is home to classic red wine-making and the very finest quality. His son Giuseppe works in winery as an oenologist and his daughter Paola in public relations. Romano personally styles the range, averaging yearly 30.000 bottles.
Ferenc Máté, author of Hills of Tuscany and A Vineyard in Tuscany ( in Estonian published 2009), and his wife Candace, a painter, left New York City in 1990 for the Tuscan countryside. In one of the world’s most prestigious wine zones, the seaward slopes of Montalcino, they bought an ancient, abandoned farm with two hills, a canyon with waterfalls and a 13th century friary with a tower and courtyard. Their neighbors were world-renowned wine makers Angelo Gaja and Gianfranco Soldera.
Acetaia LEONARDI traditions and experiences since 1871 The Vinegar farmhouse Leonardi started its activity in the 18th century but it is from the middle of the 19th century that it has been specialized in theproduction of balsamic vinegar, using the own raw material. In fact, the farmhouse is surrounded by 10 hectares of vineyards mainly with grapes varieties of Trebbiano (white grape) and Lambrusco (red grape). It is a closed cycle farm since all the production steps take place in the same plant.
RITA Società Agricola is located in the hill area comprised between Rome and Rieti, called Sabina, and known for olive trees growing and olive oil production since the ancient times. Sabina is a fertile land, particularly suitable for agricultural crops, positioned between the Apennines and the Tiber River in an ideal habitat for olive trees groves, where the mild temperate climate together with the coil and limestone soil foster their growth.
